This page is intended to collate a range of resources for people who have a design skillset, or an interest in design, and wish to use these skills to contribute to the project of Effective Altruism.

UserFriendly (Marketing Agency for EA orgs) and I frequently receive requests from EA organisations for creative services. The amount of demand tends to exceed supply, so we are on the lookout for people with creative skillsets who are interested in taking on projects for EA organisations.

Database of EA creative freelancers & agencies

This database exists to help Effective Altruism organisations to hire creative talent for their projects more easily. The database contains all of the people and organisations that I could find who were involved in / familiar with EA to some extent, and were actively doing creative work at the time they were added.

Please note – The people and organisations listed in this database were added without their knowledge, using publicly-available information. Their inclusion in this database does not necessarily suggest that they are open for work.

Join the EA Anywhere Slack channel

This Slack channel is the largest online community of people with an interest in a creative or communications field and in Effective Altruism. The channel is frequently used as a message board for posting jobs, opportunities and resources, and as a networking platform.

Look for channels:

  • Role-artists
  • Role-designers
  • Role-creators
  • Role-marketing
  • Role-product

Join the EA Designers Meet-up

A small group of designers working within EA organisations or on EA projects meet on a bi-weekly basis to perform design critiques, share ideas and resources, and collaborate on projects.

If you would like to join the bi-weekly EA Designers Meet-up, please email me at taylor@creativeconnective.co.uk

People & Organisations

Here is a list of the key people and organisations who are working in the EA community on design (or design-related) projects:

  • UserFriendly – 2-person marketing agency offering services to EA organsations.
  • All In Awe – a platform for connecting creative professionals with charities and non-profits (including some EA organisations) in need of creative services. Managed by Eva Feldkamp, who is involved in the EA community.
  • Me – as far as I know, one of the longest-serving creative freelancers within the EA community (but would be happy to discover that I’m wrong about this!) with 4+ years of experience providing graphic design services for EA projects and organisations.
  • Zian – offering design and communications services for EA local groups.
  • And–Now – not affiliated with Effective Altruism, but has provided visual identity services for the FTX Future Fund and Effective Ventures.

Who made this site?

My name is Taylor – I’ve been providing freelance graphic design services to organisations within Effective Altruism for 5+ years. In this time I have worked on projects for a range of EA organisations, learned a lot about the EA ecosystem, and created resources to help more EA organisations meet their design needs.

Effective Altruism does not seem to attract many people with a creative background, and even fewer with an entrepreneurial spirit. As a result, there is a severe lack of quality creative services within the EA ecosystem. I hope that the projects and resources on this site will inspire more artists and designers to serve the EA community with their skills, and make it easier for them to do so.
